Google Maps Redesign

Identifying the Current Problem
We created our mind-map of Google Maps to identify several distinct problems that could negatively affect a user's experience. After conducting UX research interviews, we found that the public transportation feature was the main problem for users.
Google Maps' current design limits the user as it only displays one bus line with no options to check the other bus lines that are listed initially. After the user inputs locations A and B, the immediate results will display multiple bus routes' departure times. However, once they click to see more details, Google Maps will only display one specific bus route instead of all of the bus routes. This doesn't give the user correct feedback; instead the user is confused with contradicting signifiers.
Redesign Prototype
Using Figma, I redesigned the public transportation feature as seen above. The buttons at the top of the list are now functional and show various bus lines as well as the list of corresponding bus line and bus arrival times when clicked. With the additional white space at the bottom of the original screen, I added the destination and travel time to summarize their trip.
With my team, we collaborated together, gave each other feedback and made many iterations of the prototype until we were satisfied with our redesign.
